I guess the relief teaching ship has just set sail and I'm here at the docks, waving goodbye. Oh well. There's still the next holidays!

Yesterday, I trekked up Mt Everest, scaled the Great Wall, went back in time to witness the destruction of Troy and oh yes, stepped out of my house. Of course, I'm lying - all except the last bit. I actually went out to do something other than buy food and newspapers.

I'm crapping. To cut things short, I finally managed to get hold of Regina and we went to watch Iwo Jima. Before that, we went to Kino where I realised the lack of wallet-friendly reading materials around me. *sigh*

Iwo Jima is one historical war film those who have a weak stomach should avoid at all cost. I wonder if Clint Eastwood decided, "Hey! I have some extra bloody bits from Flags of our Fathers. I'll just dump them in Iwo AND add more gore!"

The suicide scenes (is it considered seppuku?) were truly disturbing to watch. I mean I've watched scenes of ppl blowing their brains off (Unterfall) but this was just a tad too graphic for me.

Overall, it is a film I'd recommend to many due to its sensitive portrayals, its gripping storyline and for all you slashers out there (you know who you are...) there's quite a few of pairings to watch for. Of course, sitting beside Regina and me trying to get rid of the imageries, we focused more on Saigo who in our opinion looks a lot like Sungmin from SuJu.

I'll update later. So remember. Go watch Iwo Jima before it's too late. :)
