I'm beat.
Today the Alumni had organized a dragonboat activity. In the end, only 12 came, although we had initially expected around 2 people. Nonetheless, it would prove to be a rather nerve-wrecking day.

First, we headed to Kallang where the place was held. Sure, there were shirtless guys running around but heck, I was wondering why the hell they weren't wearing shirts. Was the weather too hot? Or did they get some misguided advice from some buffoon that they ALL look good naked from the top up? Bleh. Still, I was thankful that at the very least they weren't gross to look at. Rather pleasing I would say. Around a 6-7 on MY scale?

Anyways, we split into two teams and started our brief lesson. Initially, the pace at which we rowed was wonderful, akin to say being on a gondola? That was until we picked up pace, shouting in & out, in tandem with our rowing. God, now I can add to the list I can't do well multi-tasking. I can't row and say that phrase at the same time. Twas tiring!

The worse bit of course were the games. Oh god, oh god. For those of you still in the dark, I have a slight fear of large bodies of water AND I can't swim (like DUH). So imagine having to sit on the edge of a boat (with the back facing the water) and being told to rock it until your butt 's wet. I think I screamed...I have no idea. I saw my life flash before me when the boat tilted to my side as I wailed(especially when the next command given was hands off the boat). Okay, I'm exaggerating about seeing my life flash pass me though I was furiously praying hard for the boat to stay afloat, gripping my legs to the steps and having my hands on the boat. Sure, I had on a lifejacket but come on. You don't expect me to willingly depend on that do you? However, as time passed by, I gradually got used to it and in fact I kind of enjoyed the rocking. Well, I'd prefer if we were on the ground but hey, it was fun in a taking-a-risk kind of fun (Oh, oh. Germanism!)

Things got progressively worse of course. On top of my aching arms, I was caught in a waterfight. Okay, I participated in one. But after a while, I kind of lost interest in it; I just didn't want to get wet anymore, particularly when the water stings my poor precious eyes. I'm practically legally blind for pete's sake! You'd think I want to be completely blind?! HELL NO!

Overall, it was a pleasant exciting activity. If ONLY I hadn't ventured into the toilets! Gah. Sure, I thought I was getting accustomed to seeing guys half-naked but I guess I still have issues with the human body when I turned around and saw to my horror several guys stripping to well...nothing. GAH! My eyes! My eyes! (Of course, I freaked out and practically ran out) No, no, I saw no frontal nudity although I got a horrible glimpse of some guy's butt crack. *shudders violently* I pray I don't have nightmares tonight.

Thus today could be summed up as the day of failed conquest - of the water and of course naked people.

Now, if anyone needs me, I'm in the toilet, trying to wash the horrible, horrendous, hideous image out of my mind! Gah. I wonder if I'll ever be able to overcome this in 2 years time...who am I kidding?!!

Perhaps I'd better run away across the causeway or something. and go disguise myself as a farmer. ;)
